The people in Alor Regency still rely on candle nut commodities as well as walnuts, cloves and vanilla  marketed and become the main income to sustain life. This business has run for a long time. And this Pecan Tree grows well in Alor. On this edition as a result to what I found during my tour to Alor, let’s discuss about Pecan such what the tree and fruit are.
Pecan (leurites moluccana Willd.) Comes from  Maluku Islands. On that basis, this species called moluccana which comes from the word Moluccas, which means Maluku. Alor candle nut plants that are over 80 years old have large and lush umbrellas, and are found in almost every place scattered in Alor. Plants that are around 15 years old are such pyramids and generally grow in open areas.
Leaf size is not a characteristic of candle nut accession, because leaf size is more influenced by environmental conditions, such as soil fertility and season. In small land in the dry season, the size of the leaves is relatively small with a slightly yellow color. In the rainy season, the leaves are rather large with greener colors.
Buah kemiri Alor mudah dikenali karena jika ditelungkupkan bentuknya menyerupai kura-kura. Pangkal buahnya mirip pangkal tempurung kura-kura.
Alor pecan fruit is easily to recognize because when lying its face down it resembles a turtle. The base of the fruit is like the base of a tortoise-shell.
